Legacy of Leadership

Leaders look to the future and see opportunities for improvement and service for their community.

That’s what my mother, Edna Lacy, did 35 years ago when, in memory of my brother, she established the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series as a program of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, where it remains today. The alumni of early SKL classes created an independent organization that eventually became the Lacy Leadership Association (LLA). LLA has since developed two new programs on its own – first, Opportunity Indianapolis, and then LEAD. For those who graduate from the continuingly successful SKL Program,or complete Opportunity Indianapolis and/or LEAD, LLA is there to help them expand on their passions and become more connected and effective in their service to our community.

LLA is embracing a vision of becoming a premier leadership network that will make Indianapolis one of the best cities in the nation. It is ready to tackle new and larger initiatives. It is moving forward aggressively to help Indianapolis in stronger, more meaningful, more permanent ways than ever before. -- Ambitious? Without a doubt. Possible? Absolutely. But this requires new support beyond membership.

I support the bold vision of a new LLA. I look forward to learning of its successes as new programs flourish thanks to the involvement of generous donors. Please join me in supporting LLA.-- Be part of the vision--Become a donor.

Where Does My Money Go?

Supporting a Bold, New LLA
Indianapolis can reach its future with skilled leaders ready to answer the call. Additional philanthropic support will enable LLA to enhance member programming, expand community outreach, and develop a system of leadership cadres that involves members in Indianapolis’s most pressing issues.

LLA is creating a leadership force willing and able to build a stronger Indianapolis. The financial need above and beyond membership is two-fold - the need for scholarships and operational support.

The Need for Scholarships: Building the Leadership Pipeline
To ensure the leadership pipeline of Indianapolis, a scholarship program provides financial assistance to leaders unable to meet the full financial requirements to participate in SKL, LEAD and Opportunity Indianapolis.

LLA has provided more than 75 scholarships since 2005. Going forward, and with your support, we aim to provide $10,000 in scholarships each year.

The Need for Operational Support: Developing Innovative Programming
Member dues, combined with program revenue, account for just 40% of the organization’s overall budget. The remaining 60% is supported by individual donors, sponsors and foundations. To secure LLA’s position in the community – and to help LLA further increase its positive impact on Indianapolis – philanthropic investments are required to augment member dues and program revenue.  Through general operational support in the form of cash donations and planned giving instruments, LLA will be able to maintain current program fees, as well as expand member benefits and member programming.

Additional philanthropic support will enable LLA to enhance member programming,  expand community outreach and develop a system of leadership cadres that address Indianapolis’ most pressing issues.  This innovative programming, which is beyond what member dues support, will enable members to do even more in and for the community. There is a need to take the emerging system of cadres to a higher level. In addition to cadres, there are other exciting, creative opportunities to harness the talents of LLA members for the betterment of greater Indianapolis. Philanthropic support for such initiatives will provide personnel and technology resources that better leverage the skills and expertise of community-minded LLA members.
