The Mind Trust is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to dramatically improve public education for underserved students by empowering education entrepreneurs to develop or expand transformative education initiatives.

To achieve its mission, The Mind Trust has two principal strategies:

1. A nationally unique Education Entrepreneur Fellowship that serves as an incubator for transformative education ventures
2. A Venture Fund to recruit to Indianapolis the nation’s most successful entrepreneurial education initiatives.

LLA has a number of members who are extremely interested and engaged in educational initiatives designed to enhance and improve our public education system, and many have been intrigued by the opportunities for involvement with The Mind Trust. We collaborated on content for Return to SKL 2008 and The Mind Trust was instrumental in coordinating the educational panel discussions and keynote speaker Kevin Johnson, who provided an inspirational and motivating presentation to the group. An initiative of the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association, MusicCrossroads is focused on advancing quality of life through the attraction, support and collaboration of leading performing arts entrepreneurs. The vision includes attracting major music events, competitions and national music-focused headquarters to Indianapolis as a creative brain-gain strategy. LLA members have an opportunity to get involved at the ground level of this unique initiative to help develop Indianapolis as not only the proud home of incredible amateur and professional sports, but also the recognized music crossroads of America. LLA members have been recruited to serve on the initial MusicCrossroads Steering Committee, as well as serve as the committee chairs for the Drum Corps International (an organization under the MusicCrossroads umbrella) local organizing committee, which is being chaired by LLA President Theresa Rhodes. The LLA and Indy Hub collaboration helps both organizations connect our constituencies to significant leadership opportunities, while also providing the opportunity for the two organizations to link member groups in order to connect and engage young professionals and emerging leaders in the community, as well as provide mentoring opportunities.
